VERNEUIL Maurice Pillard
Maurice Pillard Verneuil, (1869 – 1942) was an Art Nouveau decorative artist
Interested in the emerging art of ornamentation, he enrolled in 1892 at the École Guérin, where he took courses in decorative composition under Eugène Grasset.
Pillard Verneuil employed a wide range of artistic techniques : posters, furniture, marquetry, enamel, ceramics, painting, and stencils.
Eugène Grasset recruited him to illustrate the magazine *Art & Décoration* beginning in January 1897; he published several articles there.
He also contributed to the magazine *Le Monde moderne*, published by Quantin, for which he created three posters. He also designed the cover of the April 1897 issue of the art magazine *L’Image*.
