GIACOMETTI

(1901 – 1966)

Swiss painter and sculptor.

He began his career by following the surrealist movement, then devoted himself to his own creation. His major piece is “The Walking Man” (L’Homme qui marche) sculpture. It shows an emaciated man with heavy feet. It depicts the difficulty of human existence engraved in earthly material. He created a singular work which will become a landmark in the artistic world. Giacometti is recognized and exhibited in the greatest museums.
